Why Nightingale?

Just a little bit of fun as to why I chose the name “Nightingale”…

Nightingale - The Bird

A nightingale is a songbird and has been the muse of poets, artists, composers and creatives for centuries. Apt fora company that brings together creatives to compose the stories of our clients.

A nightingale is often used as a symbol for purity and goodness in legends and folklore. Simplicity, integrity, transparency and honesty are all values held dear at Nightingale.

This little namesake is rather small, brown and unassuming. However, when a nightingale sings, a symphony is born. In this way, Nightingale is not about our brand, but about the song we can sing for you and your brand.

Nightingale - The Song

The song of a nightingale is believed to resonate with people on an emotional level, bringing forth joy and happiness, a sense of peace and balance, as well as connecting beliefs old and new. These are all qualities Nightingale wants to bring to those with whom we work– happiness, peace of mind, connection, clarity, and innovation by bringing together different ideas.

Nightingales can have over 1000 sounds in their repertoire, compared to just 340 by skylarks and 100 by blackbirds. This is because the part of their brain responsible for making sounds is bigger than most other birds – and I was quite partial to the idea of ‘smart sounds’ in marketing (when content can just be noise these days).

Symbolism & colour

This little bird is nocturnal, proving that daylight hours don’t always make the best office hours – we believe in flexibility haha.

The shades of a beige nightingale and its olive-green eggs are the inspiration behind the shades of Nightingale. In balance, and behind the scenes, letting those around us shine.

Further to this, the feather is a symbol of honour, trust, hope, strength, light, wisdom, (em)power(ment), and freedom. A fitting symbol for our vision, values and mission. The falling feather is a symbol of a guardian angel, a role we seek to fill for our clients.
